The Seven Steps

The Process

If you are thinking of having a custom Haven® home built for you, we encourage you contact us. A member of our team can discuss your lifestyle requirements, site location and improvements, local building ordinances, and budget requirements to help determine if a Haven® home is right for you.
  • Getting Started

If you determine to move forward with a Haven® home, we accept a deposit of 5% and will require a topographic (topo) map of your property. If you don’t have a topo map, we can help you secure one for a minimal additional charge.

  • Building Plans

Your deposit and topo map will set the plan generation phase of the process in motion. Our team will provide a complete set of building plans specific to your location and local building department ordinances.

    Plans include:

    • Engineering by an engineer licensed for your area
    • Site plan
    • Foundation plan
    • Framing plan
    • Roofing plan
    • Floor plans
    • Electrical plan
    • Window and Door List
    • All options you require must be determined before plans are generated so that they can be included on the documents.

Some options available: Garage, Workshop, Breezeway, Sunroom, Greenhouse, Extended Entryway and/or Mudroom

Your plans will be customized. You will be part of the design process, Every Step Of The Way. If you are not in a location that allows for easy access to our design team, you will be part of regularly scheduled conference calls to ensure that the design is inclusive of all of your desires.

  • Renewable Options

If your property is located without access to public utilities, or you are choosing to reduce your dependence on a public power source, a member of our Envirohaven™ Team will work with you to help determine the size and type of the renewable option that best suits your needs.

  • Contractor Selection

When constructing the Haven®, we highly recommend using licensed local contractors, plumbers, and electricians. The Envirohaven™ Team can assist you in locating and working with contractors in your area. If you have a relationship with a builder in your area, our team will collaborate with that builder to ensure his success on your project. Your builder can be trained at our facility, or an Envirohaven™ Team Member will travel to your builder for training. If we do not have a certified builder in your area, our team will act on your behalf to initiate a search, interview, secure both personal and professional references, and review bids of contractors in your area to find a good fit for you. We are continually expanding our Certified Builder Network.

After you have selected your builder, Envirohaven™ will move to an advisory capacity roll and work with both you and your builder to move on to the next step in the building process.

    Property Improvements

If your property does not have access to public sewer, a septic system will need to be designed by a soils engineer so that system can be illustrated on your building plans. Customer support can be provided in order to initiate that process.

Does your property have access to public water? Or, is there a well on your property? An Envirohaven™ Team member can offer guidance to help you access a water supply.

  • After Completion Of Your Plans

When your design has been finalized a full set of engineered building plans will be produced and ready for your selected builder to submit to your local building department. At this time, an additional deposit of __% will be due to your builder. This deposit will initiate the building process.

Your builder will work with you to determine what finished material selections you will enjoy. For example; appliances, cabinets, countertops, plumbing and electrical fixtures, paint colors, etc.

  • Let The Building Begin!

When all your planning is done, local approvals met, and lender construction finances (when needed) secured, the building process will begin. An Envirohaven™ Team member will continue to collaborate with you and your builder to ensure that your excavation, foundation, and Haven® shell construction and erection on site all go forth as smoothly and efficiently as possible. If your Haven® home is a first for your builder, a team member will be with you and your builder Every Step Of The Way as consultants on-site, by phone and video conference, as needed, until your home is ready for drywall. Your builder will finish your interior with the confidence and expertise that he has for all the other homes built before yours; the same confidence and expertise that lead you to choose him/her.
